Poker is a sport of people played using the instrument of cards. A tell is a pattern that indicates the relative strength of a competitor's hand. If you wager on net poker, common tells include betting patterns and the amount of time to act. Real life poker at the betting house provides a better opportunity to spot tells. Along with time tells and wagering patterns, individuals have body tells. Players commonly give away the strength of their hand through actions, eye movements, heart rates, and voices. Poker is a game of emotion and a majority of individuals can't constrain their emotions when money is involved. In order to identify a tell you need to closely observe your competitors on each and every hand. Look for any kind of betting pattern or physical tell that relates to the strength of their hand. If a challenger consistently takes deep breaths when she has a big hand, that is a tell for absolute strength. If a competitor always wagers his feeble hands with a twitch of his wrist, that's a tell for extreme weakness.

Tells allow you to see further than your own cards and into your competitor's brain. Focus on everything that your opponent does while she gambles in a hand and try to link every action to a given strength of hand. With the opportunity to acquire tells on your competitor, the cards really do not matter. If your opponent shows you that he is weak, you will be able to raise her with any hand with the understanding that he will drop out. If your competitor shows you that she is strong, you will be able to drop out on very strong hands. There is more to poker than just the hand you are dealt. Focus on your competitor's body language and your profits will soar.
