Do you ever receive that itch? The itch to gamble, to head to the closest casino, to locate a great stakes casino game of Texas hold'em, to sit at a Twenty-one table for hours on end. I like that itch. And I love to scratch it.

I use to study him for long periods of time. I'd tried to see if I could notice his tell. Selecting fuzz off his vest- did this imply he was bluffing? Stacking his chips within a short pile - did this mean he had a very good hand?

Years later I ran into him within a bar in New York and we had a beer. I asked him if he had been aware of all those movements he manufactured or if they were unconscious. He informed me that each individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everyone is often checking out everybody else's poker face. They're trying to detect the the tell.

So his program was to provide them lots to assume about. His thinking was if they had been thinking about him selecting a piece of lint off his coat and what it meant they certain were not pondering about their cards.
