Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he's picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
