Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he's learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
