Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn't a normal thing at the time. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he's learning every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
