Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but popular poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has increased in acceptance so rapidly.

Omaha hi-low begins just like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A round of wagering ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is known as the flop. Another round of wagering ensues. Once all the players have either called or dropped out, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of wagering happens at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants must attempt to put together the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some players often get baffled. Unlike Holdem, where the board can make up every player's hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and exactly two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It's the strongest hand out of everyone's, regardless if it is a straight, flush, full house. It's the very same concept in almost all poker games.

A low hand is more complex, but really opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes don't count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The low hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there is no low hand available, the high hand wins the whole pot.

Although it seems complicated at the start, following a few rounds you will be able to pick up on the base nuances of play with ease. Since you have individuals wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi low offers an amazing array of wagering possibilities and owing to the fact that you have many individuals shooting for the high hand, along with several trying for the low. If you enjoy a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it is worth your time to compete in Omaha hi lo.
