Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but favored poker games. It's a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant game, has increased in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha 8 or better begins just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to every player. A round of wagering ensues in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. Three cards are given out, this is called the flop. A further round of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. Another sequence of wagering ensues and then the river card is revealed. The players must attempt to make the strongest high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a few entrants often get baffled. Unlike Texas Hold 'Em, where the board can be every player's hand, in Omaha hi/low the player has to utilize exactly three cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It's the strongest possible hand out of everyone's, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical approach in nearly all poker games.

The lower hand is more complex, but certainly opens up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don't count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and lower. The low hand takes half of the pot, as does the high hand. When there's no lower hand available, the high hand wins the entire pot.

It may seem difficult at first, after a couple of rounds you will be agile enough to get the base nuances of play simply enough. Seeing as you have people wagering for the low and wagering for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha hi/lo provides an amazing range of wagering choices and owing to the fact that you have numerous players trying for the high, along with a few battling for the low hand. If you like a game with a considerable amount of outs and actions, it's worth your time to participate in Omaha hi lo.
