Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It's a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant variation, has grown in acceptance so rapidly.

Omaha hi lo begins exactly like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A round of betting follows in which players can wager, check, or fold. Three cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional sequence of wagering ensues and then the river card is revealed. The players will need to put together the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some players can get confused. Contrasted to Texas Hold 'Em, in which the board can be every player's hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize precisely three cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."

Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The lower hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there's no low hand presented, the high hand takes the complete pot.

It may seem difficult at the start, after a few hands you will be agile enough to pick up on the fundamental nuances of play simply enough. Since you have individuals wagering for the low and betting for the high, and since so many cards are being used at once, Omaha/8 provides an overwhelming collection of betting choices and owing to the fact that you have several players battling for the high, and several trying for the low hand.
